Our mission is to encourage people to be happy and self-aware. We do this by challenging them in many areas – whether by experiencing the beauty of the wilderness or in zany group games. After the challenge, and resulting success, we “debrief,” and analyze their experiences. This leads to increased understanding and self-awareness.
One of the most important skills participants in Yagilu gain is the ability to reflect on their behaviors and attitudes. They learn to analyze the effects of their behavior on others and on themselves. Our goal is to foster greater self awareness so people can choose effective behaviors. To get along with others and to be a productive and happy human being, you need to think, and to be aware of what you are doing.
Yagilu highlights relationships. With good relationships, we can achieve so much more than we can by ourselves. The only problem is that everybody thinks differently than you do. Yagilu helps individuals become aware of others and to listen and understand them. Yagilu helps people smooth out their relationships so they can respect each other, respect themselves, and accomplish more together.
We believe that people should appreciate and enjoy life. If you don’t appreciate life, its pretty hard to enjoy it. People who aren’t challenged are bored. We enjoy all kinds of challenges: physical, emotional, and intellectual. Challenge that leads to success gives satisfaction and makes people happy. We also want to increase self-awareness. Self-awareness enables people to relate better to others and to succeed in challenges that come to them.
